Members of the Band
Swoon Jazz and Groove have been performing together since 1996. All members of the band are experienced performers coming from a variety of backgrounds that have formed the melting pot, which is Swoon.
Tracey Levett (vocals)
Tracey Levett has been singing and playing guitar since she was in her teens when she studied jazz guitar with Ike Isaacs. In more recent years, however, singing has been her passion. She has recorded a CD of original material as well as two jazz CDs. Tracey is probably best known for jazz gigs in Sydney's south. She has performed on the Midday show, the Sydney Stadium, the Brass Monkey and is at Oatley Hotel where Tracey and Swoon have a loyal following. Besides music, Tracey is an accomplished artist.
Collin Yeo (drums)
Collin Yeo is also a pianist and it is this musicianship that makes him such an excellent drummer. Collin's father was also a jazz musician and nurtured his son in the same tradition. Collin has been playing jazz professionally since his early days with The University of New South Wales Jazz Band.He later became the leader and piano player of the Yeoman Jazz Ensemble for 8 years. He is currently a drummer of the Jazz Action Society's workshop band with Freddie Wilson .
Craig Walters (sax)
Craig Walters is the true gentleman of jazz. He might be one of the most accomplished musicians on the Sydney scene, but he is also the most humble. Originating from New Zealand, he has worked his way around the world playing with musicians such as Billy Cobham, Louie Bellson, Ralph Pile, Jeff Duff, Serge Ermoll and bands such as Ten Part Invention.More.
Mervyn Sequeira (bass)
Mervyn Sequeira has established himself as one of the busiest bass players on the Sydney music scene. He has worked with a range of musicians that include Lilly Dior, Carl Orr, Rachel Gawdry, Grace Chung and Monique Lysiak. He brings his own unique flair when playing the bass in Swoon.Dave Halls (keys)
Dave Halls has been playing jazz in Sydney for over ten years at venues such as the Basement, Soup Plus, Bar Me (formerly El Rocco jazz club), Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre and all the major hotels and function centres around Sydney.For many years he was mentored by Sydney jazz legend Serge Ermoll. Under Serge Ermoll's direction, Dave did his first major concert at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in 1995, playing in a band featuring Warrick Alder, Steve Elphick, Simon Barker and Mark Simmons. He later shared the piano stool in a number of Serge's bands, which featured musicians such as Dave Smith, Jimmy Mitchell, Christina Williams, Lenny Young and others.
